I was just checking out some of the news in our Dance Music community, and I noticed there is some serious festivals going on this month. Between EDC in NY & Chicago, and some great Armin shows Memorial Day weekend, I think you guys are going to have some serious cases of hat hair from those party hats!
Check it out! We have the Electric Daisy Carnival in New York this weekend, May 17th and 18th. That is going to be a jam packed show, I am more than jealous to those of you who are going.
Then Memorial Day weekend you guys are going to have to pick your poison. You can either jam in Chicago at EDC May 24th, 25th and 26th. Or you can head over to see Armin Van Buuren at the Ocean Club May 26th in Quincy, MA. It’s about to be a wonderful month guys are you ready?
Armin:”It’s not just love for music, it’s my passion. It goes beyond liking, and beyond a hobby, it’s about a way of living. Music is essential to my life.”

Armin van Buuren, Trevor Guthrie, and Ron Jeremy walk into a diner…
It’s not a bad joke, it’s the idea behind the new video to Armin’s first single, “This Is What It Feels Like” from his fourth-coming Intense album.
The video features van Buuren and Guthrie drag racing around after meeting at an off-road gas station. Guthrie, who lends his vocals to the track, starts in on Armin and the two have a race to who gets the last laugh.
The pranks backfire on the two men after getting kicked out of a diner that is run by porn star legend, Ron Jeremy.
This won’t be the only famous name attached to this track, a remix is already being done by David Guetta.
Who will be the winner? Watch and see!
Intense drops next week.

Armin Van Burren took his “A State of Trance” expedition to Madison Square Garden NY for the night. On March 30th 2013 the Garden’s arena filled with thousands of EDM lovers for a spectacular show with some of the world’s best DJ’s and talents, part of the world tour that celebrates the 600th episode of the Dutch DJ’s A State of Trance radio show.
What is A State of Trance? The New York show is a part of the ‘A State of Trance 600 – The Expedition’ world tour. In February, March and April, Armin celebrates the 600th episode of his A State of Trance radio show with a world tour bigger than he’s ever done before. The radio show, broadcast through more than 62 radio stations in 52 countries worldwide, has an average amount of 20 million listeners each week. Since the announcement in October, the Dutch DJ has revealed 11 dates and cities in which ‘The Expedition’ tour will take place. 7 of the editions will be broadcast live, interacting with and uniting millions of listeners from all across the globe, through multi-digital techniques. This world tour will be bigger and more interactive than any previous ASOT celebration has ever been. -Source: A State of Trance News
Being the No. 1 DJ in the world comes with a certain level of confidence. For Armin van Buuren, it’s that self-assurance that keeps all the gears — the weekly radio show with millions of listeners worldwide, the countless DJ gigs, the top-level stage productions and artist albums — in motion.
“I don’t try to be someone I’m not — I’ve always followed my heart and trance has always been my main sound,” a fresh-faced van Buuren told HuffPost Entertainment in the first of his many Saturday afternoon interviews at a posh New York nightclub. Later that night, the 36-year-old DJ would headline Madison Square Garden, where he, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz, W&W and Alex M.O.R.P.H. brought A State of Trance 600 to thousands of eager ravers. (The “600″ means the show had reached its 600th episode. It’s a weekly program, so do the math.)

“At this point in my life, it seems like the less harder I try, the more easy it gets,” he said. “I’m Armin van Buuren, and this is who I am.”

Trevor Guthrie of Soul Decision
Trance producer/DJ Armin Van Buuren dropped a new record last week called “What It Feels Like” featuring Trevor Guthrie of former band Soul Decision. Guthrie found moderate success as the lead vocalist of Soul Decision’s hit record titled “faded” in the late 1990′s. “Faded” was an FM hit, becoming a favorite on the Total Request Live show (TRL) on the now defunct MTV music channel.
Soul Decision’s second single “Ooh it’s kinda crazy” failed to reach the same kind of popularity as “Faded”, especially in the U.K. and Asia. The band took an indefinite hiatus in 2005 when Guthrie decided to take a break from the band to pursue a solo career only to resurface with one of the word’s top EDM producer’s Armin Van Buuren.
The music video was shot in the great Nevada Desert and guest stars adult film star Ron Jeremy ..
Excellent work A+!

First of all it’s important to note that “ravers” are not necessarily drug users. You probably wouldn’t find any more drugs in Raves than in your typical Hip Hop or Rock-and-Roll concerts. Drugs just tend to show up wherever you put several young people together in this country — it’s a rule that applies to every type of event ranging from your average house party to full blown concert. It’s not a problem exclusive to EDM culture.
America itself has a drug problem and it’s no secret that many self-described “Candy Ravers” like to do drugs. However, it’s hypocritical of us to try to pin this problem exclusively on EDM culture and events, as some people are trying to do down in Miami with Ultra Music Festival. Modern EDM culture consists of a majority of regular people that are unsurprisingly normal. They get up and go to work everyday like you and me and they listen to their favorite music either on FM or their favorite internet station (ahem..Fusion Radio).

DJ/Producer Armin Van Buuren
A recent gallop poll ranked America among the saddest countries with the least (GNH) Gross National Happiness out of the top wealthiest counties in the world. We give true meaning to the expression “money doesn’t buy happiness” . Maybe it’s about time that Americans embrace a happier culture. EDM culture embraces “PLUR”; peace, love, unity and respect. Perhaps mainstream society can learn a thing or two about those crazy “ravers” that society has come to look down upon.

Kerli
EDM culture is as diverse in its fans as the artists and music genres within it. Artist Kerli from Island Def Jam records promotes a positive message with her unique style dubbed “Bubble-Goth” with her “Army Of Love”, while David Guetta with Astralwerks continues to sweep FM radio. Swedish House Mafia, Armin Van Buuren, Benny Benassi cover every other possible EDM sub-genre with their cult-like followings. EVERYONE is EQUAL and everyone is welcome in the world of dance it’s like the PRIDE PARADE for everyone.
We have a unique opportunity to welcome one of the largest (if not the largest) EDM festivals in the Country into Chicago-land. Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) and their annual celebration of everything EDM will be taking place in Joliet, IL. Memorial Day Weekend. Chicago-land will have a unique opportunity to be a part of something much bigger than a concert … an entire Movement!
8 reasons why Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet is perfect for EDC Chicago.
1. most EDM lovers are used to travel.
first and foremost typical ravers are used to travel. Many of them are used to driving out to Indiana and Wisconsin for such gatherings. Joliet is just far enough to get a way but close enough to save on gas.
2. Traffic.
5-6pm used to be your typical “rush hour”. Now “rush hours” are from 3pm until at least 7pm in the city.
3. Lack of parking
Chicago lacks adequate parking spaces for the volume of people it hosts, it’s a well known fact for many Chicago-ans.
4. Parking Prices/Fines.
Street Parking at $4.75/hour with a limit of two hours with an Army of ticket enforcers (that won’t stop ticketing your car until you move it).
5. Camping made possible
Camping in downtown Chicago? It wouldn’t work.
6. Hotel prices
You’re either staying at a four star or a run down motel. Chicago “burbs” offer much better options.
7. Joliet’s Economy
EDC will bring in people from all over Chicago-land and the entire country into
the once quiet Joliet and they will need to buy things.
8. Capacity
Could they have crammed EDC into Soldier Field? sure, but why would they? when they can cram even more people into Chicago-land speedway in Joliet!

Armin Van Buuren ASOT – 600
Armin Van Buuren’s “A-State-Of-Trance” mixshow inks deal to perform in New York’s famed Madison Square Garden. The show will be a part of “ASOT 600 – The Expedition Tour” where no less than 14,000 EDM lovers are expected to gather on March 30th.
Madison Square Garden is the home base for the New York Knicks, The New York Rangers and a staple tour-stop for legendary pop acts such as Michael Jackson and Madonna. EDM giants Swedish House Mafia’s “One Last Tour” will also be stopping by Madison Square Garden on March 1st 2013 which they promise to be their “most extensive and extravagant yet”!

Alright Fusion listeners…. there has been a lot of speculations on where Electric Daisy Carnival will be held in Chicago. Since not all of our listeners are from the Chicago-land area, I wanted to shed some light on the possibilities.
EDC Chicago Tweeted on December 13th that the possibility for the the 2013 event could be Soldier Field (On the Chicago Lake Front), Chicago Land Speedway (50 miles outside the City of Chicago), or Toyota Park (25 Miles outside the City of Chicago). The EDC Chicago twitter feed did say it confirmed the 300,000+ person venue. So lets break down which one of these venues could hold that many people.
*Soldier Field’s Capacity is 61,500 people in the stands, its possible for another 5,000 or so to fit on the field.
*Chicago Land Speedway’s Capacity is $75,000 and sits on 930 acres of land which can hold more than 50,000 cars in its parking lots.
*Toyota Park’s Capacity is 28,000 for concerts, and only has a 6,000 car capacity in its 3 parking lots!
If I had to bet on which venue was going to be hosting the 300,000+ person crowd I would say it has to be Chicago Land Speedway! 75,000 people in the stands, room for 50,000 cars, and don’t forget all of the space on the track level. I guess we will have to wait till January 16th for the final answer to where EDC Chicago will be held.
