The UIC Pavilion has been hosting lots of great concerts recently including Calvin Harris and The Killers. Although mainly known for their rock music The Killers have some strong remixes under their belts which moves them into the dance category at times. It is the same case with openers Tegan and Sara. The Canadian lesbian duo really warmed the crowd up with an hour long set closing with their latest track “Closer.” 

Fans of The Killers packed the stadium and filled the general admission floor area to get as close as they could to see them. It was sold out showing that even without a recent album the group didn’t need new music to drive people to the show.

The band has sold over six million albums worldwide. Formed in Las Vegas, Brandon, Dave, Mark and Ronnie have remained a close group even with Brandon Flowers out performing by himself on his downtime.

 ”Mr. Brightside” himself finally appeared and people went crazy for him. The Killers started off strong with that big hit of theirs. Songs like “Smile Like You Mean It” and “Spaceman” were the best when heard live. Brandon hardly stood still working every angle and even standing on top of speakers to the squeals of female fans.

“Somebody Told Me” and “Read My Mind” were strong contenders sandwiched in between a Barbara Lewis cover of “Baby, I’m Yours.”

They closed with “When You Were Young” before returning for an encore. 

Only three songs were included in the encore with the finale being “All These Things That I’ve Done.” “Battle Born” was cut due to curfew reasons.

It is a feather in their cap to have such a huge following and new music with another should be on the way this year.
