If you like Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, and Gwen Steffani, you are going to effing love Kimbra!
This multifaceted singer from New Zeland, yes the land of Mr. Frodo himself, is a treasure to discover if you haven’t yet! Kimbra recently made her American debut with the Belgium-Australian artist Goyte on Saturday Night Live the 18th of April singing his world wide hit “Somebody That I used to Know“. She recently played South X South West and is growing a ton of steam not just over seas but here in the states with songs like the latter and her debut single “Cameo Lover“!
Her musical style stems from pop, dance, rock, and jazz. It’s not only her voice that will suck you into her world but her writing ability as well! Her debut album will be released in the U.S. on May the 22nd and is called Vows which deals with love, promises, and heartache, all the delicious things you look for in a fun, pop, Adele like heartbreak album.
She recently has collaborated with DJ A-Trak and Mark Foster from Foster the People, on a track called “Warrior” an old school, electronic, dance extravaganza with a music video that will make you get into some luche libre!
Check out her music videos and rate this artist below Fusionites!

Concha Buika is one of the most romantic singer/songwriters on the planet hence why I am sharing her talents with you Fusionites as one of the most treasured artists in Latin America, on this Valentines Day Week.
Her birth name is in full, Maria de Concepcion Balboa Buika. She was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1972 and her family is actually from the Equatorial Guinea. Growing up she was influenced by the Gitanos around the neighborhood who would play traditional Flamenco music all of the time. This ended up having a huge influence on her life and she decided to become a singer at a very early age.
Her music is a fusion of Flamenco, Coplas, Soul, Rumba, and Jazz. She has taken part in many different productions over the years, collaborating with La Fura dels Baus, and doing music for the Spanish film km.O as well as recently having a cameo and singing in the Oscar Nominated Foreign Film by Pedro Almadovar for this 2012 season En Mi Piel or The Skin I Live In, (starring Antonio Banderas), singing a song called “Por el amor de amar” a hauntingly beautiful track that will make your heart skip even if you don’t speak Spanish. Interestingly enough she has also appeared as a vocalist in a few House Music tracks by Spanish producer David Penn and DJ Chus.

Her album 2nd and 3rd albums Mi Nina Lola and Nina de Fuego garnered her a Latin Grammy Award and a nomination for Album of the Year having been produced and written by such greats as Javier Limon and guitarist Nino Josele. Her rendition of the classic “Volver, Vover” made famous by Vicente Fernandez garnered much an amazing amount of praise. She also collaborated with singer Nelly Furtado on a song called “Fuerte” on Nellys Spanish language album Mi Plan in 2010. She released a best of album in 2009 and her last album named “En mi piel” was released last year.
She describes herself a being not only bisexual but as a three dimensional human being. When you listen to her music you cannot just listen to one song, the pain, the soulfulness, and deep richness to her voice keeps you wanting to listen to more, to learn more, to Feel more. This Valentines week you will not be disappointed falling in love with Concha Buika, so dim the lights, put some rose pedals on the bed, pop that champagne, and put some of her delectable music on, let Buika set the mood for love.
