Justin booed, Taylor Swift DOES have a long lasting relationship, and Miguel kicks it…literally! The 2013 Billboard Music Awards were this Sunday, and it turned out to be quite the event.
Next to the Grammy’s, winning at the Billboard Awards shows an Artist they made it in the music world. The Billboard Award is not about how good you are, it’s how well you’ve done. From Top Selling Albums to Highest Paid Concerts, the Billboard Awards complete the musicians resume with a respected trophy.
Hosted by Tracy Morgan, The ABC broadcast brought in the ratings, ranking at #1 on Sunday night, and had a 28% increase from last year pulling in 9.47 million viewers.
Taylor Swift brought in the most wins (8), while Justin Beiber brought in the least (1). While Taylor accepted one of her awards she admitted to the crowd, “I do have one of the longest lasting relationships right now…and that’s with my fans”.
When Justin Beiber received his Top Male Artist Award he made a reference to all the “Bull S&*t” that has been going on and needs to be taken seriously, which followed by a crowd full of boos.
Right in the middle was Gotye who won a total of 4 awards for his “Somebody That I Used To Know” single. And Prince was honored with a Icon Award.
Madonna was honored with the Top Touring Artist Award for her MDNA 2012 tour which brought in $305 million. A 2 minute, 20 second video of concert preceded her arrival to the stage which followed her stating, “It took longer to negotiate whether I could show my ass in that trailer than it took to negotiate that tour!” She later humbly thanked her fans for the three-decades of support, ”A showgirl needs her fans.” she simply stated.
EDM was not a loser in any way of the night, David Guetta, who won in the new category of EDM artist and performed with Akon and Ne-Yo, explained a brief history of reading Billboard Magazine when he was growing up in Paris. “When they put me on the cover four years ago and said EDM would be big, I thought ‘these guys are crazy – this will never happen’,” he said. “Imagine how I feel today.”
Other performances of the night were will.i.am and Justin Bieber doing “#Thatpower,” Pitbull and Christina Aguillera’s “Feel This Moment” with a guest solo from A-ha’s Morten Harket (“Take On Me“), Icona Pop’s “I Love It,” and, set in kung fu movie motif, Chris Brown’s “Fine China.”
Nicki Minaj gave Lil Wayne a lap dance during “High School” and during Miguel’s performance of “Adorn” ended in scary fashion when he landed on a pair of fans heads during a leap from the stage. They were fine, brought back stage, and Miguel personally apologized to them.

Today Justin Timberlake’s highly-anticipated album – The 20/20 Experience – drops! And to make sure you know it, Justin will be on the CW network tonight promoting the album’s release on Target Presents the iHeartRadio Album Release Party at 8pm (eastern), however, that has not been the only appearance JT has been making.
It’s been 7 years since we last had an official album release from Justin, which you may not have noticed. He’s made countless appearances on Saturday Night Live (last weeks show got a boost in the ratings by about 5 million viewers), and even got to host 5 times…already! Then he goes and wins an Emmy for his appearance in 2007.
He hopped on top of cars with Madonna in the “4 Minutes to Save the World” video and he’s showed us he can be social by not only having a supporting role in The Social Network, but then helped relaunch MySpace!
Timberlake wrapped up a week of appearances on Jimmy Fallon last week (calling it “Timberweek”), then headed south to Texas at SXSW to close out the weekend musical festivities by appearing at a venue that could only hold 800 people, with a guitar in hand, singing his hits, acoustically.
The 20/20 Experience is not the last we’ll hear from Justin this year. He’s labeling this album as “part 1″ he stated in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. “I need to clear up a rumor,” he told the crowd at the release party. “This whole thing about this being the first half of the album is true.” He indicated that a “part 2″ will be popping up around November of THIS year.
Timberlake brought “sexy” back 7-years ago, now he’s just bringing himself…make some room!
And, yes, the rumors are true…there WILL be a part 2 to this blog…

Alright Fusion listeners…. there has been a lot of speculations on where Electric Daisy Carnival will be held in Chicago. Since not all of our listeners are from the Chicago-land area, I wanted to shed some light on the possibilities.
EDC Chicago Tweeted on December 13th that the possibility for the the 2013 event could be Soldier Field (On the Chicago Lake Front), Chicago Land Speedway (50 miles outside the City of Chicago), or Toyota Park (25 Miles outside the City of Chicago). The EDC Chicago twitter feed did say it confirmed the 300,000+ person venue. So lets break down which one of these venues could hold that many people.
*Soldier Field’s Capacity is 61,500 people in the stands, its possible for another 5,000 or so to fit on the field.
*Chicago Land Speedway’s Capacity is $75,000 and sits on 930 acres of land which can hold more than 50,000 cars in its parking lots.
*Toyota Park’s Capacity is 28,000 for concerts, and only has a 6,000 car capacity in its 3 parking lots!
If I had to bet on which venue was going to be hosting the 300,000+ person crowd I would say it has to be Chicago Land Speedway! 75,000 people in the stands, room for 50,000 cars, and don’t forget all of the space on the track level. I guess we will have to wait till January 16th for the final answer to where EDC Chicago will be held.
Check out the Promo video from 2012!

Madonna in Chicago 2012
Everyone in Chicago is talking about Madonna this week. With two huge shows at the United Center gays were coming out in droves along with many middle aged women dressed in a ’80s style. Lace and hot pink were all over the place as fans relived their teenage years.
Paul Oakenfield got the crowd jumping with a DJ set. This was fitting as he has remixed many of Madge’s songs over the years. Afterwards there was a long break before the diva arrived to the tune of 10:30 p.m.
It felt like an Enigma concert with all the religious images onstage. A huge cross and dancers dressed in robes banging gongs along with a huge swinging smoke thurible full of incense pouring out of it. After a quick shadowed confession Madonna popped out with “Girls Gone Wild” that included samples of “Material Girl.” Her cover of “Revolver” had her toting guns that have caused controversy once again. She used videos to stir this pot and remind fans how she has always pushed the envelope and enjoyed controversy.
“Express Yourself” included excerpts from Gaga’s “Born This Way” that surprised many, while she seems to have forgiven her for their similarities. She said, “You don’t need to be Oprah Winfrey to change the world” and explained how important it is to have a strong female role model but be your own at the same time. She spoke of giving everyone dignity and respect then promptly said, “Don’t vote for Mitt Romney.” “Give Me All Your Luvin’” had people raising to their feet to dance. That energy is what many bounced along to although she told her fans to buy more merchandise then scolded them about not singing along enough to her lyrics. “You only get what you give, motherfuckers from the Midwest!”
For the “Justify My Love” segment there were scary masks worn by dancers that tried to convey an unknown message. She continued to sprinkle past hits mixed with the new material from MDNA. “Vogue” was spectacular and definitely a highpoint to the show, from the costumes to the dance sequences Madonna showed with one song that the over $350 ticket was worth it to the diehards.
“Like a Virgin” was sung from on top of the piano as she rolled around in a slow style that many would call self indulgent. She then mooned the audience while seeming a little disorganized about her microphone pack to show off her back tattoo.
“Human Nature” had huge mirrored doors spinning and still holds up well as one of her standards. During the almost acoustic “Masterpiece” one twink screamed “fuck Elton John!”
Shogun warriors costumes made interesting dance sequences for “I’m Addicted” along with challenges of drapery. “I’m a Sinner” may not be familiar to many of the older fans but worked well visually to the strumming of sitars. “Like a Prayer” of course had everyone in choir robes and Madonna rolling on the ground as was to be expected but why change a routine that works?
The show ended with “Celebration” and left many wanting more of an encore. But once again this show is about Madonna’s vision for a concert, the audience was just here to observe and enjoy the ride whether they liked it or not.

Lady Gaga Recording Naked
Lady Gaga tells British newspaper The Sun that she’s recording her new Album titled ARTPOP completely naked! Her new album will be released in early 2013. The superstar is also working on a new Robert Rodriguez film titled “Machete Kills” according to NME.com:
The singer, who is also set to make a public appearance at iconic London department store Harrods on October 7, announced last month that she will make her acting debut in a new Robert Rodriguez movie called Machete Kills. She will play a character called ‘La Chameleon’ in the film, which is a sequel to Rodriguez’s 2010 action exploitation movie Machete.
‘ARTPOP’ will be Gaga’s third studio album and the follow-up to her 2011 album ‘Born This Way’. Fans are speculating that the album could feature a collaboration with Azealia Banks after the pair began a teasing Twitter conversation earlier this month (August 22).
Looks like we have lots to look forward to in 2013! Let’s hope the world doesn’t end.
Congratulations to all of our US of A winners over the past week as they are doing their country proud (and we aren’t talking about their hot bods). A VERY special shout out to Michael Phelps. He is now up to 21 medals, three more than anyone else has ever won, with a shining chance to take home another one.
Pop music’s Queen Bee, Madonna, and Queens of indie-pop-electric, the Scissor Sisters, have been magnificently mushed together, forming the ultimate musical construction to end ALL remixes and mashups ever created! Madonna Has A Kiki (click here for the link to the song) is one part Scissor Sisters’ smash Let’s Have a Kiki, with one part Madonna’s Vogue.
Singer/songwriter, Ellie Goulding is preparing the release of her next album, called Halycon, in October. She is slowly giving us a taste of the upcoming album. A newly revealed trailer (below, duh) for the album showcases the many styles and influences we can expect to find on this album.

Ready Fusionites? There’s some news on the street… Nero was scheduled to be on Madonna’s MDNA North American Tour this fall, and pulled out of the tour. “We’re sorry to announce we will not be touring with Madonna later this summer – apologies to any fans who bought tickets,” Nero posted on Facebook. “Instead we’ll be spending the much-needed time in the studio working on our second album. New music coming soon.”
Nero, artists Dan Stephens and Joe Ray, were scheduled join Madonna for the North American leg of her MDNA Tour in the fall, but the duo has since announced they will no longer be the support act on the tour
Allure of sound.
Want some more info on Nero? There’s some really interesting biography info over at Electronic Dance Music.com, or you can view some of the highlights I’ve collected for you here…
Nero was formed in 2004 based out of London, England. The group consists of duo Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray, with Alana Watson occasionally stepping in on vocals since 2008. Though producers of Drum and Bass and House , Nero is best know for their contributions to Dubstep.
Stephens and Ray, both born in 1984, grew up in suburban Northwood, London and were introduced by a mutual friends when they were 15. Ray was trained in classicalguitar and Stephens played cello. Both Stephens and Ray had been inspired by various DJs and Electronic groups and set up a studio in Stephens‘ bedroom where it all began.
Aside from their own work and remixes of other Dubstep artists such as Chase & Status, La Roux, Skrillex, Rusko, Skream, The Streets, Booty Love, Calvin Harris and Enter Shikari, Nero has also worked with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. In collaboration with the Philharmonic Orchestra, they performed a piece known as “Symphony 2808,” creating a unique merger between Classical and Modern music, and opening a path for even more growth in the Dubstep genre.
Trying to prove she still has it or rebelling against society? Last week, while performing in Turkey, Madonna deliberately flashed the entire crowd of 55,000 fan her nipple. She will always be young at heart.
For the first time, Kat Graham will be performing her single Put Your Graffiti on Me at Roscoe’s. “Vampire Diary” fans everywhere should be making their way to Roscoe’s as you read this for the performance of a lifetime.
No stranger to the life of the rich and famous, Rihanna has recently admitted that she is unhappy with being a size “0″ (zero). Maybe the partying lifestyle is getting to her? Or maybe the Hollywood diet just isn’t for everyone.
