For most people Labor day means the start of a new season, it’s time to close the pool & put away those shortie shorts, or no more white? According to Wikipedia, “Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 5 in 2011) that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers.” Its also the start of the football season, but most of all it means “its time to bust out the fuzzy slippers and cozy outfits” Today on this Labor day edition of Fusion’s Fashion Monday we are going to go over some comfy things to wear on fall nights.
First stop on our list… Cozy socks. Everyone loves getting cozy and cuddling up at home on a cool night, and after Labor Day that’s usually what most of the US can look forward to is cooler weather. It’s also the best way to enjoy the games from at home on the couch…. Fuzzy socks are available at almost every retailer, but you can pick up a pair like these at Urban Outfitters.
Onto the next adventure…. Team Pride. Football season is upon us, and who doesn’t love a cozy football Sweatshirt or Henley to go along with your cozy socks. I found some really fuzzy sweatshirts for boys and girls at Old Navy, and they even have your favorite team! They, by far, have the most team apparel I have ever seen! Glee star Mark Salling could probably make a potato sack look sexy. Taking some fashion tips from this Dallas, TX native would be my Men’s Fashion Suggestion of the Week.
Pictured Above, we see Mark all decked out and layered up at Guess to promote his CD Pipe Dreams last November. When it comes to fall style it’s all about the layers, which is exactly what he accomplished in his look. He layered flannel, a grey hooded sweat shirt, and a leather moto jacket. You can try this look -or- I encourage you to find some layers of your own like these guys did below.

Everyone has “Monday disease” you know you do… that dreadful wake up and back to work routine, the start of a new week, the “here we go all over again’s”. Don’t let the Monday blues get to you! Think of things that relax you and keep you positive, and I know just the trick…. some comfortable clothes.
Sometimes all you want is to wear a comfy soft cotton shirt and some jeans. True Religion has a soft cotton V-neck Vintage fashion tee that’s bound to make anyone feel relaxed. It has that ‘worn-sheer cotton blend’ which gives it that vintage look, and feels good on the skin.
People tend to try too hard on the relaxed look -or- not hard enough. You don’t want to put too much effort into it because then its pointless, and not relaxing anymore. But, you also don’t want to put no effort into it because then it just looks sloppy and careless. Here’s a tip: keep it simple… just a nice white button down Henley and a crisp pair of jeans will do the trick.

This summer the heat is getting to all of us. Here are some quick easy ways you can beat the heat, and the UV rays. One of the leading causes today of skin cancer is from poor tanning and sunburns. Be Careful out there! Be smart about the sun, and Don’t forget the care for your skin now will pave your future.
SUNGLASSES : This has to be one of my biggest obsessions, and they save you from the harsh sun-rays. I get most of my shades from small end stores like Urban Outfitters, Target, or Macy’s but if you don’t mind spending some cash on your shades Sun-glass Hut always has the best new styles.
SUNSCREEN : If you are going to be out in the sun you HAVE have on some sunscreen. You will thank me later, believe me. I can’t stress to you how important the sunscreen is. They say minimum of SPF 15 is needed.
SHORTS : Right now the Bermuda shorts are in. Take advantage of it! They are there to make you feel comfortable, and they really look good on everyone. Just be glad mini shorts aren’t in-style right now. Bermudas are your friend!
SANDALS : The perfect shoe for summer…. the sandal! They have so many styles you can wear one with anything you have on. From flip flops to gladiators… you name it, I can find one for you.
TANK TOPS : In the summer time its really important to stay cool, so, even if you don’t like the “tank top look” try to find shirts that don’t over heat you. Avoid dark colors, and heavy prints. Think smart-its summer. So… go with light colors, airy materials, and stay cool people!

Plus size apparel can be hard to find! There isn’t a lot of places you can get some great looking threads for a ‘big girl’ around here. So, I did the leg work for you, and you won’t have to sell anything to get it either! Lately, I’ve noticed that if it looks good, and they make it in plus sizes it costs mucho dinero… which isnt good on my budget. So I found some hot items online, I think, is worth checking out.
This maxi dress from Nordstrom is available online and comes in sizes up to a 3XL. Its Cool-hued chevron stripes add eye-catching pattern to a dramatically long dress with a comfortable and flattering Empire waist. I personally think thats a mouthful, however, the dress is super cute… and for the price I might adjust my budget to fit it in my closet.
This Sleveless Maxi dress from Target.com is by Plus-Size Pure Energy, and I love everything aboout it! You had me at “belt included”.
Now I personally love these cute tanks that you can pair with just about anything on a hot summer day. When its hot and muggy who wants to be all covered up? At least this way you can look cute while showing off some skin! This Plus-Size Pure Energy tank is available at Target.com and for $19.99 I’m a happy camper.
While you are over there at Target.com looking around don’t forget to swing over and add this to your basket on the way out either. This has to be one of my faveorite looks for summer. This Plus-Size Pure Energy tank is just over $20.00, but its too adorable to pass up.

In this hot summer weather, my predictions are clear that comfort may be a little more important that style sometimes. So why not have both?
