Fashion Friday: Key Items You shouldn’t Live Without

(Michelle Resendiz)

Fashion finds aren’t always handed to you. Here’s a couple little things that I’ve come across in my travels that I can NOT live without! *Michelle’s favorite products* there should be a book.

My favorite beauty products:

Diorshow Mascara

What it is:
A cult-followed mascara that leaves lashes ultra thick, long, and curled.

What it is formulated to do:
DiorShow Mascara is Dior’s original, must-have mascara that delivers ultra-glam, catwalk-length lashes. Makeup artists all over the world use this product to create the longest, thickest, curviest lashes ever.

What to try next?

Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
What it is:
A reparative and volumizing mascara containing Tarte’s biggest beauty breakthrough, Amazonian clay.

What it does:
This amazing mascara delivers a 406% increase in lash volume and long-term reparative, rebuilding, and strengthening benefits with each swipe giving you instant results and better lash health. Just as it intuitively restores hydration and texture in skin, Amazonian clay intuitively hydrates and replenishes dry and brittle lashes to prevent fallout. High performance natural™Amazonian clay performs all day by absorbing oil to balance mascara and keep product in place for flake-free longer wear. It lends itself to deepen pure color pigments creating a volume-boosting formula with higher intensity and truer pure color. The result is healthier and more voluminous lashes that won’t ever flake or transfer, naturally. After daily wear, lashes are intact, healthier and stronger. This mascara prevents lash loss and promotes lash health.

What else you need to know:
Tarte gives back and so can you: with every gifted mascara purchase, you are helping support the Tarte-sponsored sustainable-harvest cooperatives in the Amazon.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

Research results:
91% of subjects reported healthier lashes after use

Both of these items can be found at Sephora, along with some other award winning things I love like The Naked eye palette from Urban Decay, Tarte’s line of cosmetics that is to die for, and don’t for get to check out the perfumes while you are there! I love the smells that come from The Pacifica line.

And.. last but not least check out this awesome sample of Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask. It comes in a small tub but a little goes a long way. It smells DIVINE, and the work it does on your hair is well worth the $29.00. Invest in this believe me, you won’t be sorry.

Fusion’s Fall Style Preview

(Michelle Resendiz)

This years Fall Fashion is coming too soon. I feel like, lately, the season’s have been blowing out as soon as they flew in! So lets embrace what we have left of this summer, live it up, and no regrets. Fall style is easy, and one of the less planned styles of the seasons. So, without having to jump too hard into coats and mittens, lets preview what fall has in store for us… shall we?

FLARE JEANS- Ive been seeing them everywhere lately, and I have to admit, I don’t know whether to be excited about this or-not. I love my skinny jeans, and I don’t think anything will ever be as comfy as my leggings, but flare jeans are supposed to be easier to wear and better for a curvy figure so they say. I think I’ll give them a try this fall. Don’t knock it until you try it they say… so I’ll get back to you on my flared attitude.

SOUTH WEST INSPIRATIONS- I have to be honest I’m really excited about this one. I love that poncho, southwest feel to everything. This O’neill sweater will be on my list of purchases for this fall. I love the versatility of the fabric and the print. You can pull this off with denim, Or my favorite leggings too! They have more Southwest prints online at WhitneyEve.com.  You know, and while you are checking into the southwest prints take some time to look at the ponchos around the net. I think that also falls in the ‘southwest’ category, and can look really classy with some boots.

CHUNKY CABLE KNITS- It seems like every year the chunky cable knits come in, and are here to stay until Spring! I, personally, love this style of knit… its so easy to be comfortable and warm in a nice cuddly sweater. Who wouldn’t love that? To buy some great chunky knits this fall check out Tommy Hilfiger’s new collection at www.Tommy.com.

Or, you can check out what Old Navy has to show off… Here, pictured above, is the open crochet knit sweater from OldNavy.com. They have some great pull over sweaters to choose from in amazing fall colors.

Stella McCartney  has the traditional cable knit cardigan for Fall 2011. It looks comfortable, classy, and again you can pull this cardigan off with almost anything depending on the look that you are going for. Thank you Stella!

There are, of course, new ways to re-invent the original great products. Everyone is always looking for new ways to do what was done before. You know, that whole ‘I can do anything you can do- but better’ thing. Here’s more of the cable knits but in different ‘New and Improved’ ways. Here is a Nicole Farhi Cable knit shrug. Its the same great knit but its going from left to right instead of up and down. Very neat and crisp looking edge to a classy standard.

MAKE UP TIPS-  They say that make-up is ever changing, hard to manipulate, and not mastered by the normal ‘type A’ hand. I say NO. I do not agree. I believe that with the right practice we could all be make-up professionals -or- at least look like we know how to apply it.

This fall watch out for the Matte collections. Usually this applies to Red lips, and in this case it does… but this time they are matte’ing and mute’ing out the lids too.

You have to remember like the season,  there’s always more than one thing trending. It goes that way with make up too. Here’s another trending look that you could try, which is very different from our last muted look. Gemstone eyes are popping up all over the fall fashion pages in magazines. Check out the Fall 2011 Beauty Report at Sephora for tons of new colors to try. www.Sephora.com

Happy shopping!!

Fusion Fashion: Nail art… Trendy? or Tacky?

(Michelle Resendiz)

Now-a-days standing out in a crowd is sought after, and being different is being unique and respected. Thanks to Katy Perry unique/crazy nails is no longer OUT. Some people might argue that obscene nail art is ridiculous to be sporting around, and even I can agree that I’ve seen some take it over the top…

Here are some TRENDY not tacky ways to get the perfect nail art tricks done at home, and at half the cost.

Everyone wants to save money this summer, and how much is a manicure.. after the tip and the design it could go up to 20 buckaroos! Here’s my summer suggestion: Every other manicure do it at home… Instead of going to the salon every 2 weeks go once a month.

Don’t tell me that you cant do it because they have so many easy ways to make your nails look like amazing! Try the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens they come in 11 different colors, and its so easy to use! You could also try the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail-Polish Strips they are available in over 20 different shades and are completely effortless. Once you get the hang of the application its so easy to apply you could almost do it with your eyes closed.

For summer, I’m going to suggest the fruit inspired nails! These looks are easier than they seem. Just try a couple different ways and I know you will get the hang of it. For the Strawberry Inspiration: start off with a pinky red all over the nail, Then add a dark green at the tips, and use your nail art pen to add the yellow  seeds. Just add topcoat, and you are all set! You could even add a glitter top coat for some extra bling.

Same thing goes for the Watermelon inspiration: use a pinkish red on the base, add a green color on your tip, then use your nail art pen in white to line just above the green tip, follow that up with your nail art pen in black to do your seeds… and Tada we have a watermelon ladies and gents! Don’t forget your topcoat either… you always must use your topcoat.

The polka-dot nail is also in for summer. I suggest any bright color as a base, use your nail art pen to dot all over the nail,  then your top coat. Pictured above they decided to add a dark color at the top of the nail for a french manicure inspired look, you could do that as well!

For this flowered Cherry blossom look I’m going to point you in the direction of Sephora. This look is definitely not for our ‘beginner’ nail artists, but I believe with some practice everyone can do it. Sephora also has some great looks on their website that are super stylish! You could even see the tutorial here!
