Deadmau5: Keeping Friends Away and Enemies Further

After a short time off, Deadmau5 was expected to be a bit more relaxed and less on edge…not so much. Now’s he’s taken on the bully roll in the EDM industry…but don’t tell him that, because he wouldn’t care.

It was reported back in February that during an interview with Vibe magazine the 32 year old DJ was very vocal about his feelings towards Kanye West and a few of his genre jockey mates.

In the interview he stated, “I **cking hate him,” Referring to Kanye. “He’s just trying too hard. But the problem is he’s succeeding at it.”

Deadmau5, who’s real name is Joel Zimmerman, also has not been a fan of the initial use of the initials ”EDM” (Electronic Dance Music).  He liked to label the meaning as “Event Driven Marketing” due to this decades use of the word at all dance festivals, and that being the only way to get your name out their or be considered a real DJ.

He has continued on his anti-marketing rant by going after DJ Skillrex during another occasion  “Skrillex…took this brostep thing and really commercialized it,” he said in an interview. “And I’m not saying that’s bad, it’s great in a certain aspect. You got to be really careful with those mill markets, because they’ll turn on you in a **cking second.”

He also summed up the Swedish House Mafia experience as “…three of you and one **cking CD with the track on it. It’s all show pony sh**” then went to turn on Swedish producer Avicii, “He did (“Levels”), and it was all right—it was catchy—but I, dead-**cking-mau5, cannot name another Avicii track. I sh** you not.”

Just this weekend he continued to fuel this feud after reading that Avicii had done an interview for GQ Manazine. “Who the fuck does an interview for GQ anyway?” he responded. “Why start giving a **ck now? What the **ck is a GQ anyway?” After a few tweet replies from fans he continued, “For douchebags, by douchebags…You can’t outdouche the inventors of douche. Laugh it off and crash a Ferrari.”

Deadmau5 maintains that he is just being honest. “The reason why I am looked at as an a**hole is because I just don’t give a **ck about pretty much anything,” he said.

I think people liked the uptight and overworked Deadmau5 better…

Swedish House Mafia Live

Swedish House Mafia is made up of a trio of DJs named Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. Angello and Ingrosso met as children then Axwell didn’t become a member until years later. They started making music back in 2007 and even made a song with recently interviewed Deborah Cox called “Leave the World Behind.” 

They have worked with many artists over the years finally hitting it big with the single “Don’t You Worry Child.” It seems like bad timing that they announced last year that this would be their last tour together. Appropriately titled One Last Tour this was the concer to see and sold out The United Center.

Behind turntables and a barricade the trio played their singles like “Greyhound” taking turns to play their own favorites. The crowd went wild for their remix of “Every Teardrop Is Waterfall” by Coldplay. Speaking of the crowd there was lot of wild behavior and security seemed overwhelmed at times. A fight broke out in the lobby and some innocent onlookers were hurt so be careful when attending a mafia show in the future but since there won’t be any I guess we won’t have to worry too much about that one. 

“Don’t You Worry Child” the fun continued after the fighting with song after song. Axwell’s version of Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” was excellent and their “Save the World” brought the house down. They waved goodbye to Chicago as a team forever before heading to Canada for their next stop.

The tour has now been extended and the Mafia will close out the Ultra Festival at the end of this month on March 24.

Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago Announces Dates & Location

We have waited weeks for an official announcement from Insomniac events on when and where the the legendary EDM festival (Electric Daisy Carnival) will be Held.  Today the official announcement was posted on Insomniacs website.  The event will be May 24th – 26th (Memorial Day Weekend) at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL.   The event will be 18+ to enter and 21+ to consume alcohol.   The event spread out over 5 stages will have a capacity of over 300,000 people.  3 day general admission and VIP tickets will go on sale for EDC Chicago 2013 on Wednesday January 23rd at 12pm.    As an added bonus it was also announced that for the first time at a EDC event tickets will be sold for camping. Chicago land speedway is located at 500 speedway Blvd. Joliet, IL. Stay tuned to Fusion Radio for all you updates on this massive event.

Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago Possible Location?

Alright Fusion listeners…. there has been a lot of speculations on where Electric Daisy Carnival will be held in Chicago.  Since not all of our listeners are from the Chicago-land area, I wanted to shed some light on the possibilities.

EDC Chicago Tweeted on December 13th that the possibility for the the 2013 event could be Soldier Field (On the Chicago Lake Front),  Chicago Land Speedway (50 miles outside the City of Chicago), or Toyota Park (25 Miles outside the City of Chicago).  The EDC Chicago twitter feed did say it confirmed the 300,000+ person venue.  So lets break down which one of these venues could hold that many people.

*Soldier Field’s Capacity is 61,500 people in the stands, its possible for another 5,000 or so to fit on the field.

*Chicago Land Speedway’s Capacity is $75,000 and sits on 930 acres of land which can hold more than 50,000 cars in its parking lots.

*Toyota Park’s Capacity is 28,000 for concerts, and only has a 6,000 car capacity in its 3 parking lots!

If I had to bet on which venue was going to be hosting the 300,000+ person crowd I would say it has to be Chicago Land Speedway!  75,000 people in the stands, room for 50,000 cars, and don’t forget all of the space on the track level.  I guess we will have to wait till January 16th for the final answer to where EDC Chicago will be held.

He’s Famous – Guetta Releases His 8th Mix Album

French DJ, and one of Fusion Radio’s top artists, David Guetta, compiled his latest edition and 8th edition of “F&%K Me, I’m Famous”, which is a star filled mix of the 15 hottest DJ tracks out right now. Fusion Radio artists Afrojak, Avicii, Deadmau5, and Calvin Harris are just some of the big names on the Ibiza mix disc.

The compilation combines hits, previously unreleased tracks, and remixes, including Guetta’s recent collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “Turn Me On,” as well as his new single, “I Can Only Imagine,” featuring Chris Brown

The Swedish House Mafia Announce One Last Tour

Today the EDM community is in mourning!  The day we all new was coming is here, The Swedish House Mafia announced their last tour together, appropriately titled “One Last Tour”, but all is not lost with SHM (Swedish House Mafia) the group still has an entire album that has yet to be released!  Their Album appropriately titled “Until Now” is set to be released on October 19th but you can pre-order the album starting tomorrow September 25th!

The album will be
from the official soundtrack to “One Last Tour” (go to http://www.onelasttour.com for
more information). the follow up to their double gold-selling mix album “Until One”.
The album will feature a unique collection of the Swedes’ original tracks, remixes,
exclusive collaborations, club favorites and solo productions.

Spanning the globe, “One Last Tour”, will be
their most extensive and extravagant shows to date starting in Dubai on 16th of
November and will see the group traveling across continents, visiting India, Russia, and South Africa for the first time.

The tour will then hit North America in February 2013 where the Swedes will once
again play New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden as well as a night at the
Barclay Center.
All Tickets will go on sale on Friday September 28th from MIDDAY, except
for South Africa & India where tickets will go on sale on October 8th.
Tickets for United Center, Chicago will go on sale Friday, September 28th at
NOON at livenation.com and the United Center box office.

“One Last Tour” will be highly emotional as the group bid a farewell to their fans
across the world and promises to create unrivaled memories for fans and group
alike.  A special and spectacular finish for those who Came, Raved and Loved!
